The GTM Harness: why every agent you deploy needs one

The market is about to learn this the hard way

Gartner predicts that more than 40% of agentic AI projects will be canceled by the end of 2027, done in by unclear business value, spiraling cost, and inadequate controls. That’s not a verdict on the models. It’s a verdict on deploying agents with no harness: no shared context, no governance, no way to see or undo what they did. In the same breath, Gartner expects at least 15% of day-to-day work decisions to be made autonomously through agentic AI by 2028. Put those two forecasts next to each other and they describe the exact tension every revenue team is walking into. Agents are about to make real decisions, and most of the projects putting them there will fail on control.

The teams that end up in the surviving 60% won’t be the ones with the cleverest agent. They’ll be the ones who gave their agents a harness.

What breaks without a harness

Agents without a harness fail in a few predictable ways, and RevSure customers described all of them before the word “agent” was even in the room.

Nobody owns the outcome. When several agents act on the same accounts, ownership dissolves. The question a RevOps leader asked us, who owns the audience when a hundred agents are acting, has no answer if the agents run in separate tools with separate logic. A harness makes ownership explicit: every proposed action is attributable, reviewable, and assigned.

They act on conflicting context. An outbound agent and a scoring agent that disagree about what an MQL means will pull in opposite directions all quarter. A harness forces every agent to read from one shared context, so they coordinate instead of collide. That coordination cost is real; uncoordinated agents create rework, not progress.

And there’s no undo. A recommendation you can’t inspect is a recommendation you can’t trust, and an action you can’t reverse is a risk you can’t take. The harness’s Propose, Approve, Commit, Roll back loop means a human sees the reasoning, approves the move, and can roll it back if the world changes.

What the GTM Harness actually is

It exists because customers asked for exactly this: a way to send sales “the endangered opportunities” before they slip. The Deanonymization agent resolves anonymous activity to real accounts and writes it back, with the trail visible.

Same loop every time: the agent reasons, a human decides, the system executes and remembers. That’s what turns “we deployed an agent” into “we can trust what our agents do.”

The pressure to ship agents is about to collide with the reality that ungoverned agents get canceled. A harness is how you resolve that, because it lets you move fast while keeping the audit trail, the ownership, and the undo button that make agentic GTM safe to run at all. Don’t ask which agent to buy first. Ask what your agents will stand on. Build the harness and every agent you add compounds.
